Today was our second work day and more progress
was made; here is a brief summary of each
of the projects:
Melrose Home –
All the repairs to the roof were completed, drip edge installed,
tar paper laid, valleys flashed and shingles
put down on the back portion of the roof.
Inside the kitchen, where the roof was leaking, repairs were
made and painting was started.
The son (Junior) was taken to get some additional clothes and
shoes for school and church.
Smith Home –
The home roof was repaired and ready for roofing materials to
be applied.
The work day closing with Mr. Smith, Melrose and Junior was
the best part of the day. (The Smith and
Melrose homes are right next to each other.)
Mr. Smith wanted to make sure we closed
the day with prayer when he talked with
Bob. We of course did and it was good.
Mr. Smith and Melrose are very appreciative
of the work that is being done and what
is being done for their families and it
was good to see Junior laugh and share
a little about his day.
Ford Home –
The re-sheathing was nearly completed and most of the dip edge
installed. Tomorrow will bring application of the roofing materials.
The railing was nearly completed on the front porch.

Working
on Ford Roof
|
All three teams were supported with students from Virginia Tech.
We also had lunch with them where Dave provide
them well rounded dinner selections of MREs that he had brought
to “share”.
The students were great to work with and
really helped get progress done at each site.
The evening found us having fat Tuesday pancakes at the Wesley
Memorial United Methodist Church (where we
are staying). The pastor made sure we had plenty of pancakes and
sausage before we left.
The evening closed with our daily work meeting, devotional and
of course ice cream. Tomorrow is hump day
and the team has worked very hard but
still has much work in front of them. Please
continue to lift the team in prayer, especially
Alice who continues to not feel well.
